GOW 1 & 2
If anyone is interested, gears 1 and 2 are on sale on the marketplace this week. They're £10 and £15 respectively. Smile

RE: GOW 1 & 2
Ahh, my older brother has been meaning to get these so he can get used to the story before GoW3 comes out.

He's more likely to get them if he can just download them. I shall inform him and see what he thinks.

Remember Mini we were playing GOW 1, the fire alarm went off in my flat but I thought it was something in GOW (must have been drunk and stoned). Then the landlord came down to check why the fire alarm went off and I was suprised that fire alarm went off because the tape was still on it Big Grin

RE: GOW 1 & 2
There are also XP events on every weekend leading up to launch. This week it's its 10x, then 15x, 20x and 25x. It's good fun, myself, sean and nathan are on it most days if anyone wants to pop on. Smile

Also, there's a DLC which contains all the previous DLC, 19 new maps, and it's 800MSPs, it's a bargain.

Yup, you were always drunk and stoned playing gears, it was the only way you could cope with all the gore.

And yes, I do remember that, we were playing co-op campaign methinks Big Grin

Yup we were and you told me to take the tape off, because in case of real fire the alarm wouldn't catch the smoke. I lived in that place for 2 years and never took it off Big Grin

Fire alarms are overrated! Our fire alarms don't even have batteries in them. I think my sister robbed the batteries from them for a remote control. Big Grin

My post was doubled, the same text was there twice, i must have copied and pasted it by accident Tongue

And I don't need that retro lancer for a riot, I have much worse than that already Big Grin

Also, I'm not sure when there will be a riot, the last one we had was a good few years ago. But if you want me to start one, I will. I'll just set a few wheely bins on fire, that should do the trick. Big Grin

People have been known to burst into flames upon seeing red heads.

Not sure if that's the sight, or some sort of flame bomb being thrown at them.

Also mini, get on my friends list, I'm getting GoW3

It's x15 EXP this weekend on GoW2 right? I think I might give it a go, what do you unlock by leveling up, is it like MW?

RE: GOW 1 & 2
It's 15x this week, then 20x and finally 25x. I think you just get characters by leveling up. You don't unlock weapons COD style at all. I saw you online last night too. I was just heading off though Sad

GOW 1 & 2
No worries, I played 2 or 3 random games and got well and truly mullered! Got to level 5 from it so the exp boost must really work as I only got a couple of kills from it.

I played the first two match types but bugger me if I could tell what the difference in rules were. Does it tell you in game somewhere?

Gears of war 2 Gametypes + Rules.
From the gears 2 wiki:

TL; DR version below

Warzone:
The standard Team Deathmatch mode of Gears 2. Warzone is a battle between two teams for a set amount of points at the end of each match, by eliminating the opposing team each round. A point is awarded to the surviving team after the round.

Execution:
Similar to Warzone in that the teams compete for the most amount of points by eliminating the other team in each round. The only difference is that players can only be killed by one shot kills, or by being downed and executed at close range.

Submission:
This is a variant on classic Capture-the-Flag, but instead of having a flag sitting in the center of a stage waiting to be captured, a hostile AI-controlled Stranded will be waiting to do battle. He'll even tally his own score to be seen by all at the end of a round. Do enough damage to take him down to his knees and then run up, use him as a meat shield and haul his carcass back to your base to score the point for your team.

Guardian:
One man on your team is the leader. If the leader is assassinated, then the ability to respawn is taken from his teammates, turning their current life into their last. The leader is called out on the opponent's screen at all times, making the hunt that much easier. First team to wipe out the other wins. To prevent the players from tricking the other team into thinking they're the leader, players can't choose Hoffman or Skorge. The leaders for the next round aren't always selected by random: whoever killed the opposing team's leader becomes their team's leader next round. If a team loses and no one killed the opposing teams leader, then their new leader is selected by score. However, if the leader has the highest score and the opposing leader is still alive or is killed by the other leader, the next person on the scoreboard is chosen.

Wingman:
Here the ten possible players, up from the original game's eight, are broken up into sets of 2. Each pair will share the same character model, and you'll have to hunt throughout the map to kill as much of the opposition as possible before landing at a final kill count. Like free-for-all, but with a partner to work with.

Horde:
Horde was added to add more offline gameplay. It can also be played online with up to five players as you take on wave after wave of the Locust horde. There are 50 waves of horde, each increasing in difficulty. For example, the first wave will start with very few Locust to kill, around 9 which are likely to be a few wretches and drones. Although as you progress through the waves, the larger enemies appear, like Boomers, Grinders, Bloodmounts, Maulers, Butchers, Kantus, Flame Grenadiers and so on, and there are more of them. This game type is incredibly difficult, even on the casual the last 10 waves are quite challenging. There is a 30 point achievement for completing all waves on any difficulty. Additional achievements are available with the extra map pack downloads, such as clearing 50 waves on any Snowblind map or clearing 10 waves on each of the maps included in each set of map downloads.

TL; DR version:
Warzone = deathmatch, 5 v 5, 1 life per player per round, no self reviving. First team to 5 rounds wins

Execution = deathmatch, 5 v 5, 1 life per person per round, Tap A to revive . First team to 5 rounds wins

Submission = basically neutral capture the flag, but the flag is a person. No self reviving.

Guardian = kill the enemy team leader, as long as leader is alive, you'll have infinite lives. Goal is to kill the other team. No self reviving

Wingman = basically double team. Against 4 other teams. First team to have 15 kills wins.

Horde = similar to firefight from reach.

Warzone is the best gametype though. And Social games are better than ranked since you don't have to constantly search for games after each game ends. But social games require the All fronts DLC, which is 19 maps for only 800msp's. It's a bargain.

Long post is long. Big Grin

GOW 1 & 2
That explains why people were running into the open to stand on people's skulls rather than shoot them then. I preferred that game type as I lasted longer... bar the sniper shots to the head that is Tongue
